I finished my latest piece last night. I was pretty excited about her. What I'm not excited about? The fact that I have no camera. It broke a couple of days ago. So now, I have to wait to list her :( Does anybody have any suggestions on a new camera? What do you use? I'll probably go and get one this weekend so I need to do my homework. Thanks :)

The countdown begins

Well, I had the best of intentions today. They got foiled and replaced by a day at an amusement park with my family. So I am finally curing my latest piece, as I type this. Looks like I will be working well into the night if I want to hit my Tuesday deadline. Does anybody else get a little frightened when curing a sculpt? It's almost as if I am a protective mother who doesn't want any harm to come to the fine details of my little ones :)

On another note, I was driving down my street today with my little guy ( he is three ) And we saw our neighbors are already decorating for Halloween. Now, if it were up to me, I'd decorate for Halloween every day of the year. But hubby frowns upon that idea >:( But I figure if someone else is already getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year, why can't I? So, tomorrow we are getting out the bones and the spiders and the ghosts and our creepy 6 foot motion sensor butler who frighteningly offers candy, out of our dusty old 'Halloween decorations' box and we're going to have a ball! Anyone else stoked for Halloween?

Wow, has it really been six months since I last blogged? Now, before you label me a slacker you need to hear my side of the story.......o.k. so maybe I am a slacker :) But my slacking begins and ends with blogging. During this time away I have been on a creative roller coaster. I started out slow and ascending, creeping up languidly yet steadily. I began to gain some creative speed and momentum and finally I feel as though I have hit the top of my roller coaster. I feel the anticipation of what's ahead. I can see the course ahead of me...the twists, the turns, the ups and downs and the rocky yet thrilling ride that awaits me. So with the wind in my hair and the bugs in my teeth, I throw my arms wildly up in the air and let out an optimistic scream as I enjoy the ride.

My latest sculpt and I have been having some hard times. She is more of a free spirit than my other creations. She resists conforming to what I want her to be and how I want her to look. The control freak in me will eventually win, I just have to be patient and persistent. I will be working overtime to get her completed by next Tuesday. Meanwhile, in order to have a constant presence on Ebay, I will be removing "Keepsake" from my Etsy shop and placing her up for auction on Ebay tonight through Sunday. I will also lower her starting price. Maybe we will have better luck the second time around.

Well, here she is. My first sculpture in over a year. I took some time off while I was pregnant with my son. It took a couple of months for the chaos to subside when my little guy arrived ( I also have a two year old!) So now I am at it again, full swing.

So, here are seven things you may not know about me:

1. Believe it or not, I am afraid of the dark.

2. I absolutely LOVE amusement parks and have loved them since I was too small to ride the big kid rides. I remember one year, my dad and I walked up to the Colossus (a twisty twirly ride at my favorite amusement park) and the girl working the front of the line made me stand next to the "you must be this tall to ride this ride" to see if I was big enough.....I barely missed the minimum height requirement and was refused entry. I was five years old and heartbroken. As my dad and I dolefully turned around, all the people in line behind us boo'd the ticket girl. Hehehe

3. I am a perfectionist.

4. I love most reality T.V. It has this hold on me and I make no apologies.

5. Back in the day I used to be a hardcore club kid. The nightlife was my playground and I took advantage of everything that reckless youth has to offer. I miss those days terribly at times. But then, as I get a spontaneous kiss and hug from my favorite 2 year old, I am reminded very quickly of how much better it is to be a hardcore mommy.

6. I am too observant for my own good.

7. If I were to be stranded on an island and could take with me five possessions, they would be: My husband and kids...yes they are owned by me. I am possessive and I'm O.K. with that. A lifetime supply of Sunblock with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as the main ingredients. I am PETRIFIED of the sun and getting burned. So much so, that I literally have nightmares about it. My makeup/skincare bag...because let's face it, even a cast away has to look good. A lifetime supply of Green Monsters. I know, I know, they are incredibly bad for you but I figure if I am stranded on a deserted island, death is on the horizon and I am going to go out on a delicious high. Sunglasses. Because I hate squinting.

My brand spankin' new Etsy store

Well, I finally set up my Etsy store. Lisette is listed and so far I am impressed with Etsy. I wish you could add more photos though. If you want to take a peek, you can click on my lil Etsy link and it takes you to my store. I think that's how the cool kids now-a-days do it. If there's anything I did wrong or forgot to do or did too much or didn't do at all or did half-assed or did whole-assed please let me know. Any feedback is appreciated....in this case, no news is not necessarily good news.

So my muse is lurking around in the far corner of my mind and I can't take advantage of her just yet. I am waiting for the focal point of the piece to arrive in order for her to make her grand appearance. Until then, I have a sculpt I finished about a year ago that I'd like to try to sell. I tried her on Ebay once and she failed miserably, poor little thing. As if she hasn't been through enough, just look at her weathered parasol and the despondent look on her face. I am thinking it is time to give ol' Etsy a go. I have been meaning to open a store there for quite some time but the procrastinator in me seems to win most of our battles. I'll keep you posted....

The most Wonderful time of the year

The sky is dark even at 8:30 in the morning when my Gavin quietly wakes me after his tiny, empty stomach wakes him. There is a chill in the air as the remaining leaves try desperately to escape the grip of their host's gaunt grip. It's October 20th and after nearly a year of being clayless, I am feeling the unmistakable yearning to grab a lump of lifeless clay and create a tangible piece of my soul. My dark eyes and heavy head wish there was more time in the day....or night. I'll be sculpting and blogging as time allows. I have a feeling I'll be finding the time since the autumn air provokes me, gently whispering in my ear as it supplies me with endless ideas.
